There is an early dismissal at 1:30 tomorrow and the bus will leave immediately afterwards. Please bring any snacks or beverages for the ride and money to stop for a quick dinner on the way home.

Pasta Dinner on Tuesday, April 26th

Many thanks to the Anand family for hosting our pasta dinner this week. It is on Tuesday , April 26th following practice. The Anand’s address is 18 Salem Road, off of Colony Road.
We are still in need of one salad contribution for the pasta dinner. If anyone would like to donate a salad, to feed 30 people, please contact Mary Ellen Mafilios at mmafilios@sbcglobal.net.

Week of April 25th

We have two games scheduled for this week:
Wednesday, April 27th is away at Greenwich High School. This game will be coed. There is 1:30 early dismissal and a 1:45 bus.
Friday, April 29th is away at Suffield Academy. This game is all girls. Early dismissal and bus times will follow.

End of Year Water Polo Banquet — Change of Date: Tuesday, June 7th

Please make note on your calendars that the end of year water polo banquet has moved to Tuesday, June 7th. Both the original date of June 3 and the rain date of June 6 ended up with conflicts.
The banquet/ pool party will take place directly after practice and go from 5 to 8pm at the Nussbaums. Bring your swim suits and hope for good weather! If the weather does not cooperate, we will aim for Wednesday, June 8.

Practice Schedule for Remainder of this Week and Week of Spring Break

Practice is on through Friday, April 15th, of this week.
There will be no practice on Saturday, April 16th.
During spring break week, there will be practice Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (April 19th through 21st) from 3 to 5 pm.
Practice this week is open to anyone who is in town, girls and boys.

Last Minute Schedule Change for Tuesday, April 12

Unfortunately, this afternoon we heard from the Hudson Valley team that was due to play at Staples tomorrow that they can not field a team for tomorrow’s game. Despite the late cancellation,we have arranged to make good use of the referees time and they will conduct a rules clinic for our team. It will be a great way to bring everyone up to speed on the rules of the game, what draws fouls, kick outs, or five meter penalties, etc.
We will revert to our regular practice time slot and start at 2:30. Since we have the reserved extra pool time pool, we may run until 5 pm in order to get some scrimmaging in the practice.

Staples Girls Water Polo Team Continues to Improve

Nussbaum scores five goals for improving Staples girls water polo in 15-12 loss.
After grabbing its first win in the program’s history on Wednesday, Staples hosted a formidable Choate Rosemary Hall the falling day. Although the Lady Wreckers lost 15-12 in dropping to 1-1, they showed that they have made giant strides from previous years.
Senior tri-captain Stephanie Nussbaum led Staples with five goals and fellow senior tri-captain Maddie Mafilios, junior Emily Greene and sophomore Sarah Cooperman had two goals each. Sophomore Molly Rubidge had the Lady Wreckers’ other tally.
Sophomotr Emily Garber, senior Margot Bruce and sophomore Allegra Chaple took turns playing goalie for Staples.

Week of April 11th

We have one match up this week scheduled for Tuesday, April 12th at home. It is against the Hudson Valley water polo club and will be coed. We hope to get in two games in our time slot. Warm up is 4:30 and Coaches will announce when they want the team to arrive at the pool. Any boys interested in playing are encouraged to attend Monday’s practice.
Water Polo Car Wash Canceled and Reschedueled

Due to the unpredictable cold weather, the car wash fundraiser, originally scheduled for this Sunday, has been cancelled. Please mark your calendars for the alternate date on Sunday, May 22.
